Cliffhanger is a snapshot of the last 3 years of my life, 3 years ago. The book is a deeply personal and emotionally charged poetry collection that delves into a wide range of experiences and themes. The book starts off with a pivotal moment in my life, the moment I lost a love interest to suicide. Cliffhanger deals with the aftermath of what it's like falling in love with someone one minute and mourning their loss the next. This book is broken up into 5 chapters which are the 5 countries that I lived in throughout that period in my life.
My aim with Cliffhanger is to showcase a portrayal of a 20-something-year-old LGBTQ+ individual navigating the complexities of life. The story is painted through a variety of poems about love, heartbreak, being a misfit, and finding your place in the world. Some poems are quirky, funny and light-hearted, others are dark, depressing and thought-provoking. For some suicide is about ending a journey, his suicide started the aftermath of mine.
